The new one looks like a badge on a car out of China.
+1. The original badge had history and tradition. The new badge is anonymous and resembles something off a Holden or even worse, like Great Wall.

I didn't have anything wrong with my badges but when they mentioned it to me at the service the first thing I asked was if they were going to be the same as the ones on it.

Over time, all car companies evolve. I'm not sure who you guys are or even how old you are but I remember the first Toyota Logo, the first Datsun Logo (Before Nissan) along with many other brands. They have all evolved into a simple chrome emblem which is recognisable throughout the world. Even Volkswagon...the parent company has a simple chrome logo which stands out and is easily identifiable. Mazda changed their logo about 14 years back to a very simple chrome 'M' in an elliptical circle.

I'm glad Skoda have chosen to change their Logo to something that is fresh and clean. It's modern and you'll find in years to come will be recognised like most other logo throughout the world. I think the new logo style is great and it brings the design of the logo, cars and website into the 21st Centenary.

If anyone wants to do their own badges - usually it's recommended to use dental floss and 'saw' them off (they're stuck on with double sided tape), but I just pried them off with a screwdriver being VERY careful not to use the painted surface as a leverage point - instead just get the screwdriver under an edge of the badge, with your fingers as the leverage point (between screwdriver blade and paint), and pull up firmly to break the seal. You'll wreck the badge, but they come off pretty easily. Keep your eye on the edge of the badge opposite where you're levering to make sure it doesn't dig into the paint.

Yes! I totally agree with you. The new badge looks like a no name Chinese nothing. There is heritage in the old badge, but I get the impression some people don't want anyone to know they drive a Skoda. Who beyond a few Skoda drivers & dealers even know what the 'new badge' looks like?

My superb is a 2010 model elegance V6 sedan with everything, built in Prague in 11/09. It was originally brought out here by Skoda, as a vip car for 2010 Tour Down Under, stored & used again in 2011. It's a bloody good car. I'm not ashamed to drive it or for people to recognise it is a Skoda. The badges show absolutely no sign of fading, de-laminating or falling off.

My relationship with a Skoda dealer ended the day the warranty expired, with little over 15,000kms on the clock. I now have it serviced by a very experienced mechanic specialising in euro makes. That means I have more than halved service costs. I have not had a single This seems to me to be all about image. If this was really important, you'd think they'd actually contact all the registered owners in their database. They haven't, so I won't both.

You know, this reminds me of the popular 're-badging' of early 1950s Holdens. Hundreds of those with the original model produced up to 1953 updated their cars to 'the new look' by replacing the vertical bar grill with the later model horizontal bar job of the FJ. Some year later when the 48/215 became sought after, tears of regret were wailed over the old grills, long ago consigned to the tip.

Anyway, the badge, be it old or new, is a matter of personal preference. If we all liked the same thing, it would be an awfully boring world.
