    Battery longevity

Original battery in Apr '12 1.8 Superb finally gave up the ghost yesterday but only after we had parked up for about an hour with radio on. Must be something about those German manufactured batteries. It looks a big battery for a little 1.8 litre engine. I'm wondering if maybe if it could be common to both diesel and petrol variants and hence has lasted so long.

8yrs out of your battery is amazing.
Most are seeing 2.5 - 3.5yrs on original fitment battery.
The user manual actually mentions to replace at 5yrs...

As yours is an older model without Stop / Start, you should be able to use a conventional battery and not be concerned with EFB / AGM Batteries...
