Australian Order Wait times & MY17 build spec rumours..

Are there other yet-to-be Superb owners here patiently waiting? I was initially quoted a wait time of up to 8 months for a 206 TSI! That would put the delivery for me into mid-late December before delivery (I am already going quietly mad just 3 weeks into the wait...).

However... good news for me! Today I spoke to the dealership who said that they believe my car will actually be built some time in June for a late August Delivery! thats 4 months lopped of my wait time.. Yay!

Who else is waiting? The good news about waiting is that I also heard from another Skoda forum that they are changing over to an MY17 build in 11 days time so all cars built after May 22 will be MY17s. Not sure exactly which extra goodies we'll be getting, but the rumour goes that the car is going from 3 selectable interior colours on the ambient LED lighting to 10 & also a new rear vision mirror that is frameless - as per the current VW Passats. Also wireless charging is supposed to become available in Europe for the phone box, but no idea if that will make it over to Aussie spec models.

New rim on a specific Greenline model.
The beige cargo cover on wagons is replaced with the black one across the range.

The rest of the changes don't impact us I guess.
My order was tagged as a week 32 build so I wonder if it has moved such as yours has? I'll chat to Mr F.

You do realise that is for UK models, doesn't necessarily mean those changes will apply to AU.

I don't see any advantage out here as far as value goes. It will still be build date 2016 & compliance date 2016 out here. They're the only dates which count in Australia.

I understand Sportsline Superbs will be produced for Australia at end of 2016. We probably won't see them until 2017, in that case. When the dealer sells one, it will be 2017 model. When you trades it, it will have aged a year & be deemed a 2016. Have you noticed the first new Superbs sold here around Easter, were all deemed 2016 models then; a month later they're labelling them 2015?
MYxxxx is only important to dealer when selling.

Agreed. I don't expect this to have any bearing on the future value of my car. Luckily, however, that plays into my thinking not 1 iota... I am just excited to be getting 10 interior colours and a cooler looking rear view mirror... lol. Hopefully also the wireless charging box makes it over from the UK spec, be it as standard equipment or as a new option I can order.

MYxx has always been a marketing designation, nothing more, the same way that Series II is used on a Ford or Holden. Dealers have and will always work from the compliance date when determining the value of a car for sale, and the build date when determining what it's worth for trade-in. In the case of the first landed Superbs that makes them a 2015 MY16. If any arrive here that are built between January and May 2016 they would be 2016 MY16. Anything after May 22nd means 2016 MY17.
Sometimes a Dealer is honest and labels things accordingly:
2015 Skoda Superb 206TSI Auto 4x4 MY16
2015 Skoda Superb 206TSI Auto 4x4 MY16

...but most play the dates game and try to make things look fresher:
2016 Skoda Superb 206TSI Auto 4x4 MY16
2016 Skoda Superb 206TSI Auto 4x4 MY16

...even though the Build dates and Compliance dates are listed as the same for both cars.
It's up to us to look for the detail and bargain the price accordingly.


The changes mentioned above make sense to appear on Oz bound cars.
The number of colours for the ambient lighting is a software controlled thing. Technically there is no reason we couldn't have 65,536 colours available (as Passat does). Just the interface changes, not the hardware. It might even appear on the older build cars through a software update.
Running two different rearview mirrors wouldn't make sense on an inventory and spares level. You could use the argument that a specific ADR law may mandate a particular type of mirror but that would be factored into the original design so one part is good for all countries.

They didn't arrive at the dock until 3 wks later. I still wonder if we were supposed to get newer ones here and they offloaded some old stock from other country as otherwise they could have shipped them here earlier.

Something sure went screwy because apparently even the dealers had no idea that the models they were getting weren't up to full spec - they only discovered they were missing kit when they actually got them.

I’ll upvote the screwy idea. The spec database has always (from 3 March 2015 to 1 March 2016 - Road Vehicle Descriptor (RVD1)) listed the knee airbag as an option, so they must have expected it to remain like that for the life of the model. The only changes were to add Sportline and towbar. Perhaps Aus HQ then decided the knee airbag would be a marketable inclusion? The Czech, UK, and NZ sites still list “up to 9”. India states 8. Only Aus says 9 and with a disclaimer that 2015 build has 8.
The dark rear glass has me confused as most people say it’s not on the 2015 builds yet the wagon I drove had it.

Hi all. I have a Jan build with 9 bags and rear privacy. All else is as per spec with comfort and tech packs!
The only thing I find weird is that all models I've seen including mine does not have the removable torch like my previous 3t wagon.
