Lots of good reasons. Lower, stiffer and better handling being the main ones. Whilst at least the MkV has a propper suspension setup as opposed to the Australian delivered MkIVs, the MkV is softer (than the MkIV) and is setup more for long distance sports touring than it is for attacking twisty mountain roads and the like. Keep in mind I'm not saying it's a bad handler though. Just as pretty much with most cars, there's always room for improvement.
To the OP, any H&R distributor will be able to get the springs for you. All you need is the part numbers and they will be able to order them in. I know the swaybars and springs for my car have the same part numbers as what's on the US H&R website.
    Cheers,
    Trent
