    Question TSI recall?

    Hi all,
I had my MY'08 TSI in for scheduled service at Chatswood CC on Tuesday (15th) and was told there was a new recall that applied to my car that had just come out. When I picked up the car in the afternoon I was told that the recall fix hadn't been applied, because they had no information from VW yet what it was about... All they knew was that there is a recall, but no further information other than that it's not a safety recall.

Any ideas what this could be?

    Cheers
    Steffen.

Mine's booked in for its 1st service next Friday and they didn't mention anything to me - although I obviously didn't ask. I may just give them a call and endeavour to track down someone who has a clue (wish me luck) and find out some more info.

Wasn't there some sort of minor ECU upgrade a little while back?

I imagine that if it were a full recall that we'd have been advised via mail from VWA of anything serious...

I'm not getting my tits in a twist until that happens.

Hopefully the upholstery's faulty and they need to fit it with leather...

Could it just be simply that they haven't had time or forgot to service your car and so needed to make some BS stuff up to keep it there longer without upsetting you?

Where did you get that from, he didn't say that his car was there longer then expected or that the service wasn't done so why would you assume that when he's only asking about the recall information.

I read about a TSI recall on one of the UK forums. (uk-mkiv)
I've recently vag-commed my car and done the base report, so i'll (hopefully) be able to see if anything version/revision related changes when I take my TSI in for a 7500k service on Tuesday.

Not at all, I'm just skeptical when it comes to these things.

Mine's going in for it's first service next week, so I'll ask the guys there if they've heard of a recall.

If there was a recall, I'd imagine the dealers would be calling all their customers to get their cars back in to the workshop so they could try to "fix" other issues on the side to earn some bucks. Yes I'm a skeptic when it comes to fixing things I don't have a clue about, I just don't feel comfortable when I can't see/believe/prove where my money's going.

Picked up my car this afternoon after 7.5k service from OPVW in WA, and the service manager said there is a recall coming on the 1.4 TSI.
However it wasn't applied to my car as they don't have the CDs as yet.

It was suggested that TSI owners may be getting a letter about it shortly.

I have very intermittent, but prolonged boost cuts, which can actually be pretty dangerous if you're about to overtake someone and need full welly.
It feels like something physical to me - eg a valve that hasn't opened allowing the SC to get back in on the fun.

By 'intermittent' I mean it happens very rarely (and under pretty much all conditions) so I'm not surprised they couldn't recreate it today.
By 'prolonged' I mean it tends to stay lame until I change gear or really floor it. Those actions tends to snap it out of the daze. but leave me anxious about power delivery.

A 1.4 turbo is horrible without the supercharger chiming in

OPVW service was great. They gave my car a quick wash, which was appreciated as it's winter and I CBF.

    Smile recall

folks, from someone whos been in the dealer network for 25 years, yes get u r cruifix out, if there is a recall the importer/manufacturer will contact all relevant owners by mail if their car is applicable, for proof i was in a ford dealership where they recalled telstars from 85/86 in 1997 for a steering fault, so its all done from the factory, dont get down on the dealers they are only doing their job.
    and yes im one.
feel free to ask me questions, like most im always willing to help where i can.
