    Mk5 gti resonator delete

Ok, so after watching countless videos of guys doing resonator deletes I took the plunge and got mine cutout. I already had a 3" dump and hi flow cat which increased the noise over stock but now it's SUPER loud!!youtube really does not give an accurate representation of the noise!

As awesome as the decel burbles and DSG cracks are now the in-cabin vibration around 3k rpm is almost unbearable... I'll see how long I can last with the noise (I feel mid 30's is a bit old for such a loud car!)

How many of you out there have also done this mod? Would it be worth installing an aftermarket resonator to get rid of the unwanted noise at 3k? I know I should just fork out for a decent cat back but i don't particularly want to spend too much!

Let me know what u guys think.

    Cheers- Adrian.

    Hey Man,

I have a MK5 GT Sport 1.4TSI DSG - I have removed my resonator - left the stock muffler on. Sounds Great! Your GTI must sound great! LOL! I just love that burble. Do you still have the stock muffler on it?

Still have the stock muffler, can only imagine how loud it would be without! Will enjoy the noise for now but have a feeling it won't be for long...when it's not decel crackles or dsg farting it just sounds ricey imo

Yeah thats it man, you dont want it to sound like a takeway rice box. The GT Sport runs a 2.25" system, so the sound wont be near as loud as the GTI Resonator delete - plus you already have the Dump from the turbo and a hi flow cat. I would recommend getting an aftermarket resonator - not as restrictive as the stock item you removed and see how you go!

I am thinking of doing a MUFFLER Delete on mine and see how that sounds - since I dont have a dump pipe and hi flow cat - leaving the 2.25" system it might be my way to go with my set up! If thats gets too loud I will gave to reinstall the resonator - Trial and Error man!

I am also looking for that perfect sound Burble and DSG Crackle!

    Good luck.

Still loud as hell, mrs can hear the car from up the street. Loving the dsg cracks though. Keeping an eye on gumtree for cheap stock catbacks though lol.

Are you still going ahead with your muffler delete?? Are you in Sydney

    Hey Bruv,

Lol nice haha! I'm going to go ahead with the delete sometime soon. Not sure when. But it will happen. I had another idea you might be interest in. I thought to myself, what if I copy a cat back and get it made custom? Might work. Im thinking of copying this one I found on Part4euro.

    Check it.

Of course that will work, any decent exhaust shop should be able to fabricate a custom exhaust- I just don't want to spend the $$ Mk5 gti resonator delete
