    DO NOT GOTO TINTACAR!

I know different people run the different shops around australia. but,

I Dropped my 2 day old Jetta TDI in to get the windows done. When it came back it had a 1cm long cut in the head liner near the back windscreen.
When i called them to tell them what had happened 2 hours latter, they told me to bring it back in for them to have a look at it.

They then told me that they could repair it. i told them to stuff off, its a 2 day old car and i want them to give it back to me in the same condition i gave it to them in! They said that i should let them fix it with their repair guy and if i am not happy they will look into replacing it. When repaired it looked dodgy and i wanted them to replace the head liner. After i got a quote of about $1000 they said that the best they can do is offer me a $100 gift voucher at Autobarn as they do not accept that they did the damage as no condition report was done when the car was dropped off.

After complaining to tintacar's head office they said there is nothing more that can be done and it is between me and the local cairns shop.

I am in the process of taking this to the small claims court.
I do not believe that people with this type of mentality should be in business.
All of the people I know in cairns have now boycotted Tintacar.

I know I paid a bit more than it is worth (for the tinting alone), but I got the dealership to do the tinting.
I got the price down to $580 (which is still bloody expensive), however after taking into consideration the fact the car tinting is done by the dealership BEFORE delivery, the time saved by myself having to drop the car off to a (possibly dodgy) tint shop, and the fact that I could see the exact tint (on another Jetta) that I was getting I don't think the overall price is too bad. I can also write the cost of the tinting off over the term of my lease Did the same with my previous car as well.

    Geoff hi.
Have you considered putting the clear 3M film on the front of the car
    to protect from stone chips.
Leasing companies seem to be doing it.
Have been looking into it but not many companies around.unless you are
    in NZ or USA

    Gday Neil,
No I haven't even been aware of it. Can you post some links for me.
The window tinting was the only option I took from the dealership. I use Zymol car polish so plan to completely wax the whole car - I'm thinking of taking off the complete day when I pick her up in the morning (hopefully next week now), bring her home and Zymol her - yeah baby yeahhhhh

    Hi geoff.
    check out www.ozicozi.com.au
They have a dealer in melbourne.
Have done plenty of searches for a film product and find plenty in NZ
and USA but not many here.
The sydney dealer said they just did a full front R32 but normally only do
have the bonnet and front section of guards.
Cost is about $500,comes with protection on lights, mirror backs
and back upper bumper. can also be put on sills and door handle areas.
And you are expected to polish the film aswell when polishing the whole car.
    neil.

Ummm... you do realise that dealerships DO NOT do their own tinting?!? They sublet it out. I've worked in many dealerships for 20 odd years - I have never seen a dealer do tinting in-house. The cost for that job to the dealership would've been around $100 - $130 at the most, considering they usually have a good agreement with various aftermarket suppliers and outlets to do this stuff cheap!

    True..

My dealer wanted close to $500 to do the tint when I ordered my car and I said no. Came back when I picked it up and asked who they get to do it and they said they they only work with dealers but because I got the car off them they could do it for $300 and it would all be covered under the dealer warranty like if I got it done pre-delivery.

    Yeh guys,

I do realise that they sub-contract the window tinting out.

For me it is easier to have it done pre-delivery by the dealer and write the extra cost (I know I am getting ripped) off on my lease.

In the end $580 costs me about $9 per month more on my lease which is tax deductible.

If it was a purely private purchase I would then have a second think.

    Thanks.

    Hi Neil,

Has yourself or anyone from these forums done this?

Interesting to know, though at this stage I am only probably going to Zymol the car.
