    Thoughts on this 2005 FSI?

I'm sort of casually looking around for a new car and I came across this Mk5. It seems cheap ($13K), esp for the kms (70K).

Any thoughts on this ad or this model of golf more generally?

    Cheers

    They're not too bad.

Avoid autos, make sure it's had the 28F5 ignition coil campaign carried out. If not, you can get that done yourself through the dealer. Some gave EGR problems, as well as PCV issues, but those are easy fixes.

Most of all, make sure it has a good service history.

That is a good price, probably because of the colour. Studies have shown Maroon & Green cars are the 2 colours hardest to sell on the second hand market.

Thanks - it is a manual (of course, though my old boss has an auto FSI and loves it) and it says it has a service record. I'm not sure what EGR and PCV mean as I'm a MK1 guy and ignorant when it comes to how new cars work

Thanks for the feedback. Interesting re the colour (I'm not super keen on it but it looks ok) and good to know that might be the reason for the lower price rather than something dodgy.

If in doubt, I'm sure you'll be able to borrow the car for an hour or so, and have it checked over by someone who knows them well.

Hope to check it out soon - been sick so haven't been to motivated.

I'll def get it check out by a specialist before any money changes hands.

    Cheers.
