    Suppliers for Door Locks?

    Hi,

I need to replace my door lock actuators - at least two of them, might as well do them all, right?

Does anyone know a good, reliable Australian vendor of aftermarket actuators? I'm getting the runaround on ebay from sellers who claim to be in Australia but don't know where Darwin is (!), sellers who charge $999 for express postage, and a lot of listings saying "LHD only".

I wanna get the right rear first, since that door does not lock. I would assume there is no LHD/RHD difference there? (On that note, is the driver's door a master actuator? Unlocking the driver's door is not triggering central unlocking which makes me think it is the cause of the problem. Wiring seems OK since the locks all seem to attempt to work. 'Unlock' button inside driver's door works fine).

Does anyone know the correct part numbers for an Aussie 2.0 FSI? My variant does not come up on many parts lists, but I am guessing its locks are the same as others. I will check the actual parts installed, but don't have the requisite tools yet.

    Thanks in advance.

If you put each part number into eBay you'll get plenty of options. I bought one of the $40 ones from China to replace my driver's door. Arrived in just over a week and works fine.

    Thank you.

Was that the Golf? I should have specified.

Driver's door is 9-pin right, and the others 7?

Yeah they're for a Mk5 Golf. Part numbers are from ETKA for a RHD.

Yes driver's door is 9 pin, the rest are 7.

D2pautoparts10 on eBay carry them. I've been buying from them for years, and the parts are decent. Postage is quick too.

    Hey Guys,

new owner of a MkV Golf 2005 for my daughter, the door locks seem totally random as to whether they will work or not, sometimes with the key fob, sometimes with the drivers side lock, sometimes front doors will not lock but the rear doors will, some times the opposite.

What do you guys suggest, buy some new actuators, lubricate the actuators, could it be an electronic problem? I am at a bit of a loss to be honest.

Check the wiring harness where it passed through the A pillar into the drivers door.

If that's ok, replace the affected actuators. Don't bother fixing them, they'll just fail again.

    Thanks.

OK, one down (and working!), several to go. I'm hoping once the driver's door is done the others will slave to it properly. And the tailgate is on order too because it has stopped opening intermittently. Whose brilliant idea was it for everything to be electromechanically actuated?!?! What's wrong with a freakin lever?

Front left passenger door has 9 pins on the lock itself, but the wiring to it only has 6.
Photos are of the original lock
