and this one for how to make your climate control show your speed (maybe)

As I was driving onthe Eastern freeway most of the traffic was passing me??
I turned on my Navman and my speed was about 94kph.
My speedo was reading 100kph.
I sped up until Nav was 100kph, speedo reads 107.
I checked again with gps in phone and got same error. Has anyone else found this? Did VW fix it for you?

i notice that u have a 08 model, if your climate control doesn't have an econ button, press the AC button instead.
btw all cars have speedo that reads lower than actual speed.

If your that desperate to get it changed
Buy Vag Commander 5.1
Download the eeprom from the Cluster and you can reprogram the needle sweep map i think
not really sure if thats possible with mkVs any way.. i dont really know much about it.. ive just read things breifly Graeme86 seems to know a bit about it
Reading the links posted here and from other sites this seems to be a common but annoying problem.
I know I can mentally judge my real speed or drive off the gps but I didnt buy the car to do that. I have always had accurate speedos and it is nice to know when you are doing 100 that is what it is. It is up to me then if I want to slow etc.
The real annoying part is when Im doing 100 (and by the look of it other VW owners too) and believe Im doing 100 and a line of cars is behind wanting to overtake.
I will investigate my options with VW.

No it doesn't, the odometer is always accurate, VW have put an offset on the speedo so that they meet UNECE 39/00 (Rev 1) which requires the speedo to deliberately under-read. The link that I posted has all the information including copies of the Volkswagen TSB's that explain this.
