    Roof lining

Hi, does anyone know a cheap place in melbourne or Geelong to get a mk5 gt roof lining done?
Or has anyone repaired their own? How difficult is it?
    Thanks.

I had my Jetta's rooflining retrimmed here Mega Trim | Motor Trimming I don't have the receipt anymore, but from memory it was $200 or so, and I removed it myself to reduce the cost. I think it would have been also around $50 or so cheaper if I had scraped the foam backing off myself. Given the work involved to get it out of the car (Golf is much easier I think as it can go through the rear hatch) I didn't want to risk it sagging again if I didn't retrim it properly myself. Colour match and quality of work

That sounds very cheap. I’ll give them a call.

I gave megatrim a call and they were over $600. They look like they do nice work and that’s the whole job.
I’m in the northern suburbs. Is there anyone up this way that might be cheaper? I’m not after genuine materials. Just something close.

Remove and replace yourself could save some money.

Sorry if it wasn't clear this is what I did. I only had megatrim actually retrim the lining i.e. remove old fabric and glue new fabric in place.

Also worth noting if you do it yourself is to take care of the grab handle mounting points, they deform when the screw is tightened, and so either need to be bent back into shape or replaced. I just replaced them, for more detail see here How to DIY remove a sagging headliner on mk5 VW Jetta or Golf (rabbit)
