    Windscreen Replacement Advice

    Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone could give advice about replacing a windscreen in a 2007 MKV R32?

I have a large crack on the passengers side that has extended from a chip. The crack is about 150mm across the horizontal so it's too far gone!

I know there is the wiper sensor near the rear vision mirror to consider too, along with the little window for the VIN.

If anyone has had to replace theirs, what ball park figure should I be looking at? Any recommendations or advice? Or should I just go with the big boys...

PS: I'm in Sydney/East for service area.

    Thanks

I had mine replaced under insurance at Penrith vw, they used the local O'Brien's. I can't remember what it cost as it was covered by the insurance.

    Cheers Phil,

For anyone else interested O'Briens are $652, VW direct (just the windscreen) are $560.

O'Briens also want it taken to one of their workshops because of the rain sensor, but then the operator said they might be able to do it mobile... He was a little confusing.

Gee, I am going to have a look at our policy to see if screen is there.
Not complaining, just in shock! We have the rain sensor as well
They are more complicated than I allowed.

Apart from the rain sensor, the windscreen is an integral part of the vehicle chassis. It needs to be the right construction, the right thickness, the right strength, and needs to be glued in with the right compound.

Make sure you get VW genuine.
