Our 2007 Jetta has developed an odd door unlocking problem which happens every couple of days.
When I press the unlock button on the key remote control all doors will unlock, then half a second later the driver's door re-locks - you can hear all 4 doors unlocking, then you can hear just the drivers door do an extra dead-lock click and re-lock itself. In other words, the drivers door unlocks for half a second then locks again - all other doors stay open.
The only way to get in the drivers door is to use the actual key. I even held down the unlock button on the remote and lowered the windows to use the drivers inside door latch, but this would not open the door from the inside as it was dead-locked
Subsequent unlocking of the car with the remote will operate as normal, until a few times later when the drivers door decides to re-lock itself again. There is no pattern to this anomaly, it just happens every few cycles.
Can anyone offer any advice regarding this odd problem.
Many thanks.... O

Does it happen with both sets of keys.
But as mentioned sounds like the lock itself.
Heard of a few replaced under warranty (including mine). See the dealer.

Have seen similar symptoms relating to the wiring where it passes through from the A-pillar to the door.
