Also note that you will probably have a G70 crankshaft sensor fault, which will most likely be due to trying to start it over and over (dont overlook it) but just make sure it's not logged because you've been trying to crank it so long, as opposed to it actually being faulty.
i hope it is not the flywheel i don't have a scanner to check for codes. any other symptoms i should look for to confirm the flywheel is to blame?

Not really, if you absolutely cannot fault the issue (i.e: using logistic diagnosis and ruled out every possibility) then it's time to pull the gearbox and check the flywheel by hand for excessive movement..

Not to sure of anyone in Sydney, sorry. But don't be scared just yet, get a logical diagnosis going, it could be something simple. I am just advising on the DSG flywheel possibility because I have seen them cause this issue many times before, this does not mean this is your issue, just a possibility. Remove the gearbox to check the flywheel as a last resort .

I have a feeling it is related to the starter and diesel injection. Just a hunch as it does everything else perfectly. I think it is starving of fuel due to the low crank rpm of the starter which i have read is a common problem when it is worn down. I think it could also be related to the injectors, they may be dirty.
