    Pirelli Pre-purchase check

    Hey Fellas,

My partner is looking at getting an 08 Pirelli at the moment so I thought I'd check if there's anything out of the ordinary I should know about when inspecting. We've already looked at one that was very well looked after, owned by a vw worker and has had the major service done, dsg serviced etc.

So other then your standard service checks, revs check etc are there any recalls or issues known with the issues to keep in mind? From what I've read, they're a solid car that don't seem to have many known problems that regularly occur.

    Thanks in advance,

    Hi there,
Probably too late to respond to this post, I have a Pirelli - great car and excellent value 2nd hand now for what you get.

the main thing I would be watching out for is a dodgy ABS module. These were terrible in 09 golfs full stop from what I understand.

I've had to replace mine and I know of another Pirelli owner with the same issue (the ABS module cost me around $900 imported from the U.S. Dealers here will charge around $1000 for the part. And if you're not willing to do the job yourself (you'll need VCDS and you will need to do a brake fluid bleed) you're looking at a lot of labour to get it replaced.

Can be a little hard to test as you need to quite violently slalom the car to reliably get it to fault while on a short test drive which might be difficult.

Other than the above mine has been rock solid and I still love it.
