    Jetta rear bumper black strip

    Hey guys
Just wondering for those that have the jetta, if you go to the back, you will see a black plastic strip going across above the bumper and just under the reverse sensors. I was wanting to get that color coded. Any idea's if it will pry out and if so, how to go about it?

    Thanks guys

My Jetta's black, so I'm not too concerned about it... anyone know how to keep it black.. i accidentally got some wax on it..

I would imagine it would just pry out, or you could always just mask around it and spray it... shouldnt be too much of a pain to do..

Hi my Jetta is black also I use Mothers' Protectant In Interior / Dash & Trim

Preserves and protects for 30 days! Mothers Protectant is a penetrating UV blocker, effective on rubber, vinyl, plastic and fiberglass. Constructed to recondition and maintain the original condition and appearance of dashboards, bumpers, trim, tires and more. Protectant isn’t an oily surface-coating film. It’s an ozone and smog resisting, UV shielding penetrant – a preservation agent that works on just about any uncoated plastic or rubber.

yeah...I might try prying it out later today. Because I want to colour code it silver like my car, but I don't want to do it myself and I've got a panelshop in mind that can paint it professionally for me. Only downside is if I leave the black strip on my car or it can't be pryed out, I'm gonna hve to leave the car there and I'd rather them just take the black strip than my whole car....

They can match the paint because I have the paint code and for back up if they can't find the codes, they said they'll take my fuel filler cap and match the colour. It's silver, and like clarkson says, "how hard can it be?"

lol I got the info from http://www.carcareproducts.com.au/pr...ers/protectant

I dont have any stone chips on my bumper or bonnet as I have a plastic bonnet protector though I have one on the top of my front RHS panel that I will get repaired when I can be bothered.

How much does it cost to repair the chips?

I dont know havent looked into it yet though if you have quite a few chips it would probably be cheaper to get your bumper resprayed.
I only have the one chip so I would look at getting that repaired if it wasnt too expensive to do so.

I dont know if the strip can just be pryed off. I think its joined to the bottom part of the bumper.

If you buy the rear bumper skirt, this replaces the back strip with a colour coded one.
