Inquiry about MK5 VWs and what to look for?

    Hey everyone.

I am in the market for a new daily and am tossing up between a few options which include the MK5 Golf or Passat.

Since I know nothing about them what are some things that I should look out engine, interior and body wise?

    Cheers.

Dsg noises rough shifting etc walk away.
Must have had dsg oil changes at 60k look for receipts or walk away.

Headlining fails due to heat $300 fix.

Where did you get the $300 fix on the headliner Justcruisin?

That's really been the only issue I've had lately.
Oh that and a rattle in the drivers door and one in the rear seat mechanism.

    $300 is cheap!!!

My headlining is being replaced this Sunday for $450 which is the cheapest I could find in Syd! Other places were quoting $650+..

The top vent on the dash starts to rattle especially on a hot day. Front doors develop a rattle too.

Cam followers wear prematurely on some cars. Can cost a bit of coin to fix as it involves redoing the whole Camshaft

Would like to know of a good place to redo the headliner in Brisbane.
