    i cant believe it

well what a day! A couple months ago i paid a well know workshop that specialise in vw (that i wont name) to fit a replacement bmc filter to my mk5 gti as i didnt want to break the engine cover! Well...... On saturday while driving in to meet for the cruise my epc light came on and the car went into limp mode so come monday i took it to vw at penrith to get it fixed. I hear back from them today and they ask me to come down so they can show me the problem, it turns out when the workshop fitted my filter: 1. They left the filter cover loose and i had i slight vaccum leak.2. They lost one of the rubber grommets and damaged the remaining 3 that hold on the cover. This caused the cover to come loose and break the plug on the fuel regulator. Cause another shop fitted the filter it is not under warranty and vw want $1500 to fit a new regulator and the grommets and part they push into are 47.50 each wow!!! So now it is upto sebastian at euromotive to fix it for me and thank god for him he fit in my car even though he is busy. I am so pissed at this other workshop

Post it over on golfmkv.com as they allow the posting of the names of companies where people have had problems with. Otherwise just post it, you've posted the facts and I don't see why you can't continue with the facts or even just hint at the name/location.

Yeah man, you should do it...You have all of the proofs there. Have you confronted the workshop that carried out the bodgy work? I suggest you take alot of photos, and charge the repair work back to the bodgy workshop. It will be the only way you can recoup your money under their warranty and insurance.

I'm wondering have you discussed this with the original workshop. With supportive documentation and a reasonable approach, any reputable company should fix free of charge or compensate you for any loss. I would consider this the first step before naming and shaming.

Im a firm beleiver of if you have a problem with someones work you should approach them about it before taking to bagging them. It only takes one staff member to ruin a businesses reputation.

If they arent interested in making good on their bodgy work then I believe its open season though!

I made the assumption that he had contacted the other garage, this would have been what I would have done whilst at VW to see what they wanted to do, if they didn't want to take responsibility then I'd have VW do it, along with a report on the damage to use at the small claims court and post their name.

They may be reluctant to do anything now if you get it fixed somewhere else, at least give them the opportunity to repair. Get VW to check the work afterwards as well if you're not comfortable with them now. Or work out a settlement with them.

Why is the car now at another third party garage? Why not let VW fix it, surely the difference in price isn't that much?? After the experience I'd be wanting to let someone like VW do the work!

Confirms my belief that if I have to pay for poor workmanship, I want to be the culprit!
