    Highline MFD cluster upgrade - hard?

    I was thinking about upgrading the Sportline to a Highline MFD unit from a later model car.

    Would this;

    a. be possible by just replacing the gauge cluster,
    b. cause any ongoing issues,
    c. get details from RNS-510 over to it?

    Thoughts and experiences appreciated.

    Yes. Hard and possibly quite expensive. Do a search on www.mkiv.com forums.

    Budget $2000 for the swap and a dealer has to do it, unless you find one to agree to you doing the work and flatbed the truck to them for programming.

    You need to replace the whole instrument cluster and it has to be a brand new one or the VW mothership in Germany won't program it. The immobiliser is built into the cluster and the odometer has to be set as well.

    You will also need a steering wheel with the buttons on them to control it.

    I think that it is clear that it is too hard and not cost effective.

    Thanks for the input. I will wait until we get the Multivan that will have it already installed!

    it is an expensive and time consuming switch, but i guess if you like the hands on it's possible
