Headlight indicator light in instrument cluster

I read on a forum "somewhere" that using VCDS (VagCom) you can turn on an Ind (yellow) that shows your auto headlights have turned on.
Anyone familiar with this one on a MkV?
I may of seen it in an Audi forum

I haven't seen any options for this and have never seen it discussed so not sure if there is a way to do this on the golf.

Is there a reason for the indication? The dash lights coming etc are all a good indicator? Or the light in front of the car (yeah yeah needs to be dark outside)

Hmm, seem to remember it was an AUdi forum.
Dash lights dont show when sun shining thru roof.

Sometimes headlights are on and I dont realise. They have a mind of their own some days.

    I will search more.

What's wrong with that? Its not going to give you a flat battery or anything.

from memory, doesn't the auto light switch change colour when its on?? i think the "auto" words light up green when off then change to red when on?

    maybe i remembered incorrectly..........

No, you didn't remember incorrectly. (how many negatives in that sentence? )

That is exactly how the auto switch changes colour when the lights turn on.

Bazzle brings up a valid point. In many European cars, there is or used to be an indicator on the dash showing when you had your headlights on. (I know the Renault I drove in Italy had one.)

The automatic function for the headlights sometimes leave the headlights on even though it's bright daylight. The dash lights are not bright enough to alert the driver. Yes, the 'auto' light on the switch changes colour but that's not really in line of sight.

I agree with Bazzle; it would be handy. Sorry to see some of the belittling comments made in this thread. A simple 'no' would have sufficed.

Maybe you mean the daytime running light indicator enabled on US cars. There is something about their low beam headlights always being on (except when the handbrake is up) and it is accompanied by an indicator in the instrument cluster.
