Red face Timing Belt & Waterpump Service 105,000 kms

The time has come for the "Big Service", which from what I hear will be "Big" on my wallet too.

Anybody know any good mechanics in the West/North of Melbourne that will do a good job, and won't rip me off either?

    Thanks in advance

Hi mate, I'm from Sydney but I just got my timing belt/waterpump done a couple of weeks ago too on my TDI with about 110,000 ks on it. I got a couple of quotes one for $1500 and one for $800, guess which one I went with..just trying to help(hope you don't get ripped off that's all)

For sure, but sometimes cheaper doesn't mean better. You have to put Genuine Parts and quality of work in consideration. Most of the quotes I've gotten so far are around the 800-1200 mark as well.

I agree. Don't chase the best price or even the company but the best mechanic. After all the quality of the work is dependent on him as long as there is not too much pressure from his boss to get the job done quickly.
Understand how it works, troubleshoot logically BEFORE replacing parts.

It's not bad, I've heard a lot of good things.
I'm sitting on 91,000kms atm, as I just purchased the car second hand and their servicing sticker from Volkswagen Frankston says the next service is due either at 105,000kms or February 2015 (Obvs past already).

Does this mean if I take it in for service, that it's time for 105,000km major service? (timing belt etc?) Or can I get a regular service and change the timing belt etc when i ACTUALLY read 105,000kms?
