    GTI Carpet Mats attachment?

    Hi there!

I have not picked up my car but have been doing some pre-pickup shopping for my new GTI. One of the items I purchased was a set of GTI carpet mats from VWmaniacs.

However, there are two different types of attachments for these mats (i.e. "button" or "hook") and I was just wondering which attachment type is present in the Australian Golf GTI.

I'm hoping someone in this forum would kindly have a quick look in their car and help me out. Thanks so much, everyone!

P.S. The picture attached shows the two different button types. The one on the left is the "button" type and the one of the right is the "hook" type.

I assume it would be the button fitting, there is a round piece that sticks out of the carpet and you just push the mat over that it clicks into place.

They don't show the two types on that website but the one that is on there looks similar to the ones in the GTI, I'm positive that the hole in the plastic is round however.

Its the second one on that pic for the mk5 GTIs. I recently got some mats from the UK and they had the round ones but I managed to swap them over from the original mats very easily.

Perhaps not .. it seems like us Aussies get whats left behind from the other factories. For instance I have an amp .. others don't. I don;'t have drawers .. others do .. I have an aux in .. some don't .. its like a lottery!

just remember...double check if the mats are for RHD or LHD...as the shape of the mats will differ...
