    GOLF GT Suspension Upgrade....

Recently got the following installed into the Golf:

    - HPA KW SHS Coilovers
    - H&R Front (28mm) and Rear (24mm) Sway Bars
    - Whiteline Bushing Kits (control and trailing arms)
    - Whiteline Anti Lift Kit.

The ride is still pretty good however road noise is more noticeable on rough surfaces as are Vibrations. On smoother surfaces it is not so noticeable (actually really can't tell that the suspension has been changed when driving (in a straight line) along normally on a well sealed road)

Handling is improved a hell of alot, there still is some body roll into a sharp turn in. Exit speeds are up substantially without any under-steer.

    Launch Control
Before with the stock setup axle tramp was definitely noticeable when launching from about 2700RPM... Which Ben saw first hand... So a comfortable launch was around the 2-2100RPM with little to no axle tramp...

Well the 3 times I've tried it out since last week I can launch from 2700 and not baby the launch with NO axle tramp at all!!!!

Ride Height of the car was lowered 25mm ... I think this might be put down the full 35mm the Coilovers can handle, however had the front scrape on a very steep negative to positive slope.

    Good work, Tom! Looks great.

Nothing wrong with your ride height, although another 10mm would look good.

And scraping is the price you pay for ride height...

The new springs will sag a little over the coming weeks, so you should drop a bit more.

At least - that is what happened to me on a KW kit. Not a bad thing in my book

Been tucking into the burgers then Tinto?

Thanks for the review Tom, that axle tramp is indeed a rather epic fail on heavy takeoff.... I'm keen to ditch it. Interesting to hear the big roll bars didn't affect the ride too much, I noticed a 22mm H&R just on the rear, and thought the 24mm would be GTI like....

Yep, hoping they will Will wait and see...

I also was surprised that the larger bars didn't impact that much...

Sreay ... Spent a bit on it, not as much as others though, Just got a few more things to put on it (change rear bar and new wheels, possibly also a new down pipe)

The Pinstripe looks pretty good, I've been thinking of doing something like that except possibly in blue or silver....

I'm pretty sure they did.... Actually I'm pretty sure mechanically wise they are the same unit. There were some cosmetic changes such as the grille piece being colour coded with the body colour on the GT's where as the GT 'sport' is black, different seat pattern for the both etc etc...

    Mine is a GT 'Sport'
