    Fuel Comparison

Did anyone see the fuel comparison article on TV the other night? I missed it and was wondering which of the top end fuels was considered best.

I just read here that VPower is not as good as Vortex of Ultimate. Would be great to see whihc is the best fuel for my GTI!

Didn't see the review, but my preferred fuels in order are

BP - never had a bad lot in 15 years
Caltex - Haven't used, but heard/read good reports
Mobil - Less bang than BP per drop, and remember what they did to AVGAS a few years ago -
Shell - Plenty of reports of bad batches, horrible in the karts.

Always a good one the old fuels.

I use BP Ultimate in all my bikes. By far the better performer in terms of kms from the tank and performance.

However i use caltex vortex for the Jetta, I have been getting more kms out of the Vortex and performance i havent notived any real difference. Its also 2-3c cheaper than the Ultimate.

I guess with the bike being such a high performance, high revving machine it is more noticeable than the car.

I would steer clear of shell. I have since the dodgy optimax days and will never go back

At the end of the day though what ever works for you.

I'm running a bad batch of shell out of my system at the moment. I'll be putting in Ultimate, and then either continuing that, or vortex, as recommended by Eurotune.

    My GTI experience:
    Ultimate= Sh*t
Vortex= Worse than Ultimate (unless it was a bad batch and may re-consider another tank at some stage)......car hated it.
V-Power= the best so far......more punch and guts!

I've had the worst fill up this week from the Caltex in Ramsgate, I would swear they are pumping 91 in the tank. The car is got so much lag in it. and there is a power gap @ 4000RPM. I've always used Shell and found it to be ok. Would like to try the Ultimate on the next fill

Interesting you ask this. I swear caltex vortex is rubbish. My car pulls heaps less on this stuff, then I fill up with Sheel V Power or BP ultimate and it is noticabely better. I have even filled up a few times with Vortex just to see if I was imagining things and everytime it runs like poo.

There have also been a couple times where I have been remote and only been able to get BP unleaded and it ran better than the vortex 98.

They used a Holden Commode and found BP 91 gave the best results over ALL the other fuels tested regardless of octane. So putting 98 in a bread and butter car does very little apparently.

Without an ECU that advances timing to take advantage of the higher octane it achieved very little other than to prove BP make good fuel relative to the market.
