    Unhappy My R32 wont start

    Hey Guys and Gals,

My R32 mkv wont start and im told that its all 6 coilpacks? Is this posible? The mechanic, none VW came out to look at her and did as many tests as he could including reading the cars brain. No faults that he could see but it wasnt Vagcom. What he did say was i have rpm indication from the crank sensor, i have pulse and power to the coilpacks but no spark.

What elese could it be? Im not really getting anywhere fast here, the mechanic wants to do a compression test to see if the timing chain has snapped but i dont think its that, or at least in hoping its not that!!! I did hear from the last garage that serviced it that the car had major starting issues last May and had an after market alarm immobilizer removed and also the coilpacks replaced but not sure if thats anything to go on or not? Any help or suggestions would be great. Im in the bondi area so if anyone has vagcom and feels like coming over to plug in and help please do, i can supply a good liquid payment and lots of humor.

    Thanks Guys and Gals.

It would be very very rare that you would have a failure of ALL coilpacks at the same time.

    Does the starter motor crank?

    If not, it could be:
    - ECU issue
    - Immobiliser
    - Fuel pump
    - Other electrical issue etc

Engine turns over, i have pulse and power to the coil packs but no spark. What controls the coild pack and their sparking?

Thanks for the info, the coil packs were replaced last year before i purchased her. I'm finding it hard to understand that all 6 would go at once, is there a chance that 1 or 2 have gone and that they are not allowing the others to fire?

    Hey guys and Gals,

Its not the coil packs we used a known working set and she still failed to start Comperssion test today. Maybe timing chain has slipped or snapped?

Check the basics , spark , fuel and timing

Spark is easy , pull out coilpack and attach a spark plug and crank the engine ,
Fuel you pull out the spark plug you just did the spark check on and see if its wet
Timing is a little harder , usually checking to see if you have any incorrect co-relation codes works otherwise rocker cover off and line up crank pulley and see if cams line up .

Oh and compression , although thats simple , you just bung in a compression tester into each cylinder .

No Spark, plenty of fuel, plenty of compression, maybe a crank sensor?

    Guys,

It turns out to be the Ebox which contains all the fuses and relays. So if any of you have the same or simular its a good place to check. Not sure on the cost at the mo but will let you know. Thanks to those that have made comments.
