There was a post a while back (a couple of months ago) where an unknown posted what looked like an advert rather than a real topic.... many comments made by others but none ever made by the original poster...

Most comments were not positive for sme reason.

    Sounds a little dodgy.

I'd much rather go for a tune I know has been tested thoroughly and then again with hundreds of consumers.

Stick with GIAC/APR/REVO/ETC ! If you're worried about your dollars, I hear giac are doing chips for $1100 because of the Aussie dollar.

So who locally does the GIAC chip and anybody knows how it compares to the others?

I've spoken to a few of the local chip companies and most of them have no real intention of lowering their prices to cater for the dollar. We're paying well above the overseas value for the progamming.

    Welcome to the forum Mixer.
Locally? Depends on where you are as in which state. You need to look up to see who does giac locally for you.
We do not do comparison discussions on this forum as we like to keep things friendly.
Most of the reputable mod companies have their merits.
As to costs in Oz? That may be asked of the distributors but there are hefty insurance costs involved ect. The costs are well worth it for the gains......

Hi Mixer, welcome to the forum I'm sure you will find it a very informative and above all friendly place.

I'll second what Andrew said, for some reason discussion on chips always seems to descend into a "my chip is better than your chip" argument. There is a mountain of information regarding chips available on the 'net, it's probably best to do your own research and form your own conclusions.

I spoke to Audvolks last week, they charge $849.00 for normally aspirated and $1299.00 for T's. Id rather leave my car somewhere where I can see them perform the upgrade.

Majority of places will let you watch their late VW get flashed or whatever.
I always encourage the owners down here to watch and learn!

Sooo tempted.... So far all the work is getting done by the dealer, but I wouldn't mind looking at a few upgrades to the baby now she's over 50,000km. Anybody got a workshop recommendation who knows GTI's well either in the Bayside area or Western Suburbs?
