I havent used a drop oil or coolant and done 9600km.
The only fluids ive had to top up is the windscreen washers.
Driving it hard to run it in is the key.
I know TDIs tend to use some oil when running in - but coolant?
Has anyone had to top up their level? I've had the warning light telling me to check the coolant twice in 10k.
Normal or not?

Definitely NOT normal. Sounds like something is wrong. The only time I've ever had coolant levels drop is when there is something wrong with the cooling system somewhere.
What does your oil look like ? (specfically any white emulsion on the underneath of the oil filler cap or on the dipstick)
Any unexplained drips of moisture around the engine or underneath the car anytime (except for air-con condensor) ?
Logzy,
I'm happy to agree that proper running in can reduce oil consumption (particularly in a TDI), but I'm very interested in your theory of how it could affect coolant consumption.

Nope, coolant is a worry, but probably just a loose hose.
Nil coolant and little ( if any ) oil used here!
