Which brand of Premium Unleaded to load into my Golf?

    Hi all,

Apologies first for a most stupid question. But which brand of Premium Unleaded do you guys/gals use?

I've got people telling me to avoid a certain brand (not mentioning the name) as it sucks and had additives that would only be of benefit if the mechanic priory tuned the car as such.

Others tell me that BP is the best.

    What do you guys suggest?

    Many thanks in advance.

    Cheers!

It really is personal preference and what is close to you. In many cases quality can vary from location to location anyway depanding on how well they look after their tanks. Having said that name brand *should* be more consistant.

Personally I use BP Ultimate because it's on the way home, it's priced well (in my area) and it works very well.

BP Ultimate FTW!!!! Maybe Mobil 8000 or Caltex Vortex Premium, if no option, but BP seems to be the best IMHO. Hope this helps

i think BP 98 is the best and i still use them even although in my area BP are real *ssholes and are always the first to put their prices up and be more expensive than everyone else. oh and their service stations are dumps and only have 1 person working so you have to wait for ages as theres often a massive cue

zz2, thats coz BP actually makes 98 at their refinery in Kwinana, everone else who sells 98 is just buying off BP and rebadging the stuff. they say they put their own secret herbs and spices in it, but its not any better. Occasionally someone might import the stuff from singapore, but its mostly BP.

A collegue of mine who used to work at the BP refinery suggested that you or I couldnt tell the difference between the brands and therefore go whichever 98 is the cheapest on the day (if you can be bothered shopping around)

I was at Mobil yesterday and had to make do with Mobil 6000 as the idiot at the counter insisted that Mobil 8000 was not unleaded petrol...

Looks like it's Mobil for me then...

just shows the kind of people that work in servos....
i have run Mobil 8000 for years in all my cars. mainly as it is conveniently located near all my regular travel spots, and most of the servos are the same pricing anyway.
comes down to what suits you.. some people mix and match fuels on a tank by tank basis based on price etc and some stick with one brand only.
