Brake pads change over - oem to ceramic

UPDATE: I have now sourced and bought the corresponding Ate ceramic brake pads.
    The Ate part numbers are:
Front: Item Number 13.0470-7184.2-ECER2 (with brake wear sensor)
    Back: Item Number 13.0470-2894.2-ECER2
They cost me 126,40 EUR for front and back (incl 18% GST), shipping didn't cost me anything (a friend organised that for me)

My rear brake pads need changing after 71k, and I'd like to change them over to ATE ceramic pads (the front one's too, once they're worn)

Two independant VW dealers quoted me the same following original part numbers (after providing them with the VIN) :
    Front 3C 069 815 1C
    Rear 1K0 698 845 1J

I have been able to find the front part number listing (to cross reference replacement pads) The rear pads were not listed at all.

    My questions

1.Which numbers/lettering of the VIN are the inportant ones (determining the brake system)
    1K1 1KD 1ZE ?

    any help appreciated, thanks

Don't know if it will help but when it comes time to buy my ceramic pads I'll be getting them from ECS tuning. Here's a link

OEM / Performance Parts for Audi, BMW, Mercedes Benz, Mini, Porsche & Volkswagen - ECS Tuning

They sell a ceramic pad for the front that comes with the wear indicator.

    Hi,
Thanks for the link, but I'd rather use ATE if I can (old habit). They also sell them with wear indicator, but at the moment finding out what type of original brake system has been installed prevents me from correctly cross referencing a compatable set of ATE ceramic pads.
    cheers
