    Boot Latch Problem

    Hi All,
Very infrequent poster, long time owner of a Mk5 1.9 Diesel Comfortline.

I've removed the boot latch as I think it's faulty. The boot won't latch closed, but the switches activate as normal.
I thought the spring or motor but I can't see an obvious fault.
Having dismantled the latch, I'm going to replace it rather than rebuild it.

I'm going to post in the wanted section and ring around wreckers, but thought I'd ask the knowledgeable folk here as well.

    Cheers
    Ralph

Not a Mk5 but my son has a Mk6 that had this problem. He purchased a new one on Ebay where the seller said it fitted the Mk5 & 6.
It didn't fit without some modification but it does work OK. My guess it came out of China from one of their models.
I don't think it's a common failure so going S/hand may be OK if it's cheap.
Understand how it works, troubleshoot logically BEFORE replacing parts.

check the wiring between body and rear hatch passenger side - nasty habit of breaking - your rear demister probably doenst work either.
