    Bonnet open sensor?

Sometimes my Jetta TFSI sits in the garage for a couple of weeks undriven (I know, it's a travesty). I'd like to keep the battery on charge with a CTEK charger.

I was thinking of leaving the bonnet open while it charges (ie for a couple of weeks); anyone know if there's a bonnet open sensor that would stop the alarm staying armed?

(My garage is fully enclosed, so while I lock the car, I'm not worried about a bonnet open)

Well I don't have the alarm per say, but I often lock my car with the bonnet up to let the engine heat escape overnight, and it happily does that, fake led flasher on the drivers door etc turns on, so it seems to be happy to lock the cabin independant of the bonnet.

Yes. You can see the 2 wire connector on the left hand side of the car behind the headlight. You could put a switch on this somewhere else in the car so it thinks the bonnet is closed. IIRC this sensor is just for the alarm and is independent of the normal bonnet open sensor.

As the charger would be providing a tiny charge to the battery I'd just connect it up and close the bonnet.

Yeah, my issue is I want to leave the bonnet up/popped open slightly as a reminder to disconnect the charger, before I drive off!

You could run the charge lead out the rear of the bonnet across the windscreen or have the lead hang from the ceiling?

Or build a massive docking station for the car

Yeah, not sure if I've got the space for that. Still thinking.

This is where it lives. The big blob to the right is my 5m long offroad camper trailer ....
