Anyone had APR Chip > 3 yrs on Mk5 Golf?

Just wondering if there are any Mk5 Golf owners out there who have had their car "chipped" with an APR flash update for more than 3 years? Have you had any abnormal wear?

I'm thinking of getting my Mk6 118TSI chipped, but a bit worried about the possible impact on the engine and/or DSG.

In particular, if there are any Golf GT / GT Sport TSI owners who had theirs chipped for 2 years (I think that's how long GT TSI has been around) I'd be interested in hearing from you.

The APR reflash for the 1.4tsi has only been on the market for a few months.
All those who have jumped in seem very happy.

Considering you drive your car in a similar fashion before and after a chip, does fuel consumption increase considerably?

This does not account for the fact that you would be more inclined to push it harder and more frequently, otherwise why else would you want to chip it?

i'm pondering this with chips and exhausts upgrades. not wanting to sacrifice too much of the good fuel consumption numbers, but willing to sacrifice some for the fact it's a twincharger that may get a bit of an upgrade.

I have searched and searched for a bad word about APR's tuning and have failed to find any. I am not muuuuch help to your question as I only just had mine tuned recently and I have noticed better fuel consumption when driving in a ecconomical fashion
Any other questions just holler, I doubt you will have regrets though.

Well..... I'm going against what most have said here..... My fuel consumption has gone up by a very very tiny amount, soething like 0.1L/100km ish.

If I was driving it bit more like an old 50/60+ y.o grandpa it would prob. stay the same....

The conclusion would be that it depends on your foot I guess, some say better economy, some say the same and others a slight amount worse.
The best part is the transformation your engine receives from the new tune

For me...definite increase in fuel consumption...about 1.5-1.7L /100km and i keep logs for work - currently 64000K....had the APR tune since new =)

However the fuel increase is probably more closely related to the HP fuel pump + TBE + Stage 2+ tune...which was only done recently.

Prior to that I can honestly say that in my experience the standard tune with no other mods than CAI that I had for a few years gave me exactly the same 9.6 - 10L / 100km I had for the first 2 months lol with all the benefits of the extra power. On longer drives say from home (FTG) to the airport (Tulla) i could easily do that 60km trip on about 6.5L / 100km...now it's closer to 8 but I seem to enjoy overtaking more now....

Cant say about other tunes but if you are just going from stock to a tune the APR setup is great.
