Question 120,000km service cost and work required 2006 1.9 TDI DSG Golf

    Hi all,

I'm hoping someone can provide concrete information/experience on this model specifically to the work involved and cost of a 120,000km service for an 06 Golf 1.9 TDI DSG.

Note - Timing belt and water pump have been changed at 105,000km.

I've scoured the forum and google, with nearly every other service interval mentioned but struggling to find more than conjecture on this one, and no pricing examples from after 2010, particularly around the DSG service (what does it entail) and the overall cost of that DSG service, and the work and cost of the 120,000km service in general.

    Thanks a lot all

Oil, oil filter, sump plug, brake fluid, pollen filter, DSG Oil and Filter *6l @ approx $45-70 a litre depending where you get it, fuel filter.

Dealer shop around maybe around the $900-1000 mark. 'Specialist' again shop around maybe around the $700-900 mark depending on if they use genuine parts or not etc etc.

DSG service entails draining the DSG oil, replacing the filter, filling the DSG oil, running to a certain temp and rechecking oil level draining off any excess fluid.

Thanks heaps The One, this is exactly the kind of breakdown I was hoping for! I presume both a specialist and dealer would go over all of the other standard servicing requirements/checks that you find in the service manual? Any further feedback/experiences welcome

Jaackyy, yep have a look at page 2 on this thread for my 105k experience: Timing Belt & Waterpump Service 105,000 kms . I'll again be sourcing quotes from Volkshome Thomastown and several other specialists/dealers for this upcoming service.

Just as an update I've had a quote from a specialist for $895 using genuine parts.

Keep you posted with any other quotes I receive, but I'll likely go with this one.

This includes dsg?? I don't think you could do that price using genuine oils and fluids.
Engine Oil cost is $88.00 for 5lt oil filter is at least $25.00 sump plug washer $5.00
Dsg parts genuine will be over $350.00 air, pollen and fuel filter over $150 add brake fluid change
I'd be concerned about the genuine parts!!!
No way would a mechanic with brains do a major and dsg for $850 using genuine products.

Just had the 120k service completed last week with Elvis at Volks Autohaus for $895. He's a VW service manager by day and does his own work on the weekends.

Elvis ran me through all of the parts he would be using, all genuine, he let me ask as many questions as I wanted and ran me through everything he would be doing as a part of the service which was a great experience and gives me a lot of confidence to continue going to Elvis in the future.
