Lightbulb What did you pay for your Octavia RS162/RS169?

    Hello everyone,

Considering purchasing a Skoda Octavia RS or Golf GTI. What were people paying drive away?

I was looking at an Octavia RS 169 with all the options fitted. Lift back or Wagon doesn't really matter.

    Thoughts?

A fully optioned RS169TSI Wagon is in the region of $55k driveaway.
Cheaper purchase, better warranty, cheaper servicing, better features, build quality, and cornering than a Golf GTI.

Only get the Golf if you're the kind of person who thinks people in Golfs are cool... Although if you're going to do that you'll need the R.

As per puhleese but wagon, dsg.
Re the 162s being cheap, there are a lot of bait adverts out there. But some bargains too if you're flexible on colour and spec.
I enquired on one 6 weeks back, told it sold the previous day. Ad's still up there, and dealer has rung twice now asking if i want to come in to discuss a new car. Second time i did point out that bait adverts are illegal. Not expecting a third call, but very happy with my local dealer

Its worse when people come into the showroom pointing at the bait ads (Fully loaded RS for $50k!) point at it and say "I want that!"
Mate with the amount of money we make on them you can have $500 off and not much more.

Mysticality, You're starting to sound more and more like a used car salesman everyday. Oh, woe is us, the poor dealer we're not making any money. Crap, dealers don't build huge glossy showrooms if they're not making money. I'm sure there is all sorts of kickbacks, rebates etc on invoiced price.

Agree they just don’t tell the sales guys how much margin is actually in the car otherwise they’d give it away to get the sale.

They do have to sell cars and make a profit to keep the doors open though. There’s been quite a few Skoda dealerships come and go over the years so not all can pay for the shiny showroom.
