Thanks for the call Brian, here is the info you requested

Skoda Octavia Scout is fitted with a high performance summer tyre, usually Dunlop SP Sport 225/50R17 94W
Like all summer tyres, it is not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

If you are using the Skoda in snow regularly you would be best to use a 16” wheel with a more suitable tyre.
This would allow you to use a more conventional snow chain ( from $290.00 - $375.00 pair)

RCS can supply Rud Centrax for this tyre size @ $675.00 pair
The issue in using this type of snow chain ( RUD Centrax or Konig/Thule K-Summit) is the “chain will always grip to the snow/ice but the tyre can spin inside the chain”
This occurred when the vehicle ( VW Golf Gti, similar vehicles and tyre type and size ) had been parked, overnight for weekend, the car was snowed in and when the owner has tried to drive out the “hard” tyre ( refer below ) has not gripped the chain and has spun causing damage to the attaching parts. With this type of chain system the chain is very “loose” on the tyre, it has to be this way because this is how it fits “automatically” onto the tyre. A conventional chain can be tensioned on the tyre and this situation will not occur. This problem is less likely to occur when the chains are fitted at the chain bay when you are driving up to the resort. Take it easy, especially when starting off, and you should be ok,

Technically snow chains should be fitted to winter tyres and not high performance summer tyres like the OE tyres on the Skoda. The winter tyre has far more grip and this issue when snow chains of any type are fitted will not occur.

Snow chains – extract from Skoda Octavia owners manual
Snow chains must only be mounted on the front wheels.
When driving on wintry roads, snow chains improve not only traction, but also the
braking performance.
For technical reasons, it is only permissible to fit snow chains with the following
(Winter) wheel/tyre combinations.

Wheels and Tyres 213
Wheel size Offset (ET ) Tyre size
6J x 15(a) 47 mm 195/65R15
6.5J x 15(a) 50 mm 195/65R15
6J x 16(a) 50 mm 205/55R16
6J x 17(b) 45 mm 205/50R17

a) Only fit snow chains with links and locks not larger than 15 mm.
b) Only fit snow chains with links and locks not larger than 9 mm.

Winter tyre change and check-up
Winter tyres are essential for safe driving, and have far better grip and self-cleaning properties. They are recommended for use when the outdoor temperature falls below +7°C. The depth of the tread is also important. According to tyre experts, the tread pattern should be at least 4mm deep.

Before winter starts, have your tyres and spare tyres checked at your Škoda authorised service partner and change in old tyres for new ones if necessary. You can leave the set of tyres you do not need here for storage in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. The condition and balance of the wheels is re-checked before the next season starts.
Snow chains
Always mounted onto the drive wheels, (front wheels on AWD) snow chains improve traction as well as braking on snowy and icy roads. When selecting chains, opt for the ones that are the easiest to attach. Try fitting the chains to your wheels when you are cool, calm and collected at home first; trying to read the instructions in the freezing cold and drifting snow is hardly any fun. Stow the snow chains in an easily accessible place in the car. And take caution if you are travelling to another country: in some European countries it is mandatory to have and use snow chains in the winter months.

hope this helps
