Pulling apart AC fan to remove debris - help!

Hi. I've spent the morning trying to get access to the blower motor using the instructions from Briskoda:

Unfortunately I'm stumped at step 3 - I just can't get this to happen:

"Lift clip (near the connector) and rotate bottom of blower housing. Blower motor and fan come out downwards."

I just can't locate a clip that seems useful What does it look like? There is a metal bracket, maybe 6-8 mm wide, that clips under the unit, but I only managed to bend that trying to lever it off. The view I have from underneath doesn't look exactly like the picture in the Briskoda thread.

I did my previous Octavia 2 to remove a car park ticket, but mine was the same as the image.
I presume you have managed to remove the electrical connections easily?
The little plastic tab with the arrow near the wire is located in a 'gully' and just has to be eased over the locating ridges.
Turning the whole motor then allows it to be released and the off-centre location of the motor is then given clearance to pull out.
The tricky bit is not getting a face full of dirt as the motor and mounting comes out.

Of course yours may be slightly different as I don't remember any metal brackets.
Google and youtube is your friend in these circumstances.

You might want to post a picture of your situation, that would help.

Looks a little different! I think the orientation of my photo is similar to that at http://img855.imageshack.us/img855/8983/belowblower.jpg but the features aren't all the same.



Where abouts on this pic is the clip in question?

In this pic, I have only removed one of the switches, there is another one still attached that is easy enough to remove.

OK got it!

All suddenly made sense when I was lying underneath it at the right angle, then the only trick was rotating the unit in the correct direction to remove it. 1 shredded parking ticket removed, noise gone.

At the 10'oclock mark the tab there will have a screw - remomove the screw

Follow the loom and at 2'oclock there's a plastic tab with an arrow right next to the loom. pull this downwards so it clears the locating lugs & twist the fan motor.

I think that should work


EDIT: SORRY, didn't see your photo. The tab is still at the 2'oclock with the arrow on it. There should also be a locating screw somewre but your photo's a bit crap.
