Octavia RS169 DSG Wet Clutch or Dry Clutch?

    Hello everyone,

I can't seem to narrow down what DSG box is in the RS169. Is it a wet clutch or dry clutch unit?

I recall reading the RS162 was wet clutch but the RS169 went to dry clutch?

I believe the 169 is still using the same 6 speed wet clutch DQ250 DSG as in the previous gen.

The RS245 will be using the new 7 speed wet clutch DQ380 which is also in the 7.5 Golf R. It's a higher rated box and has an extra cog. Looks like the Golf GTI and the standard Octy RS are keeping the "older" 6 speed wet clutch for a little longer.

It's only the lower power/torque engines that are matched up to the dry clutch DQ200 7 speed DSG.

Are the above figures in brackets the rated torque figures for the DSG boxes? 370Nm appears quite low, especially if you're inclined to go Stage 1 or 2?

i had "420Nm" with my MK2 Octavia vRS, running an APR Stage 2+, for almost 5 yrs.
it has the same DQ250 DSG-6 gearbox as the current MK3.

mine also had a DSG performance tune, which supposedly up'ed the max torque to 450Nm.

from wat i've read, the DQ380 (DSG-7 Wet) is capable of applications up to 600hp/700Nm.

No, the torque of the engine.
The DSG6 is officially rated at 400Nm (in MQB); the DSG7 dry is 250Nm (always has been); the DSG7 wet is around 650Nm.

Would there be much difference in power delivery in comparison from the 6sp and 7sp DSG wet clutch?

The gearing is slightly different and the extra gear is helpful in lower revs at cruising speed as well as better matched gearing for driving around. I've driven a Mk7.5 Golf R with the new 7 speed and it never feels like it's in the wrong gear.
