How do you change the wipers on an Octavia

I need to replace the rear wiper on my RS wagon and I looked at it the other day. Firstly I can't seem to find a clip to remove the wiper blade from the main arm. Secondly, whilst the ends of the blade have a plastic cover which moves, I can't seem to remove the end clip (without breaking it). The blades seem to slide into the flexible arm, but getting them in seems to be the problem.

The front blades seem to be similar, but as my local VW dealer had to replace them after breaking the windscreen 'fixing' the wiper sensor, I don't have to worry at the moment.

    Any ideas?

Yeah that doesn't normally happen...I asked them why they didn't change them at my 4yr/60k service as they were feral and not cleaning. It specifically said they had been cleaned etc. I rang them up and said they were still very dirty and I thought they were due....years ago they promised free brake pads/wipers at the 4yr/60 service, of course noone there remembers that.

I get all those promises in writing when I buy the car from the initial salesperson....

Thanks Martin. Unfortunately the Skoda doesn't have the button and I don't want to break things, so it's off to the dealer as I also have to get one key fixed as it is 'out of synchronisation' and point blank refuses to reset.

    I'll watch & learn.

depending on how old the car is...yes....
Mine (on the Tiguan a few years back) were bad soon after picking up the car, and so I went back and got them changed.

For failure yes but definitely not for wear and tear. They come under consumables just like tyres, filters, oil, etc.

I'm still waiting on rear wipers! I went to the dealership for a number of things, including the rear window wipers in the first week of February. They didn't have any rear wipers in stock, but there were wipers in Sydney.

I left with the dealership telling me they would order wipers and call me when they came in .... and I'm still waiting. As the wet season is almost over, I'll worry about it later.

If anyone sees a snail with a wiper tied to its back, it's probably mine.
