    Retro Passat

Well guys you may already know that I have a 76 Passat and have seen a few pics of it. I did have a thread started on it but has been lost since the new forum layout. No matter, this in now the proper build/resto thread for the old girl.

Few little things have been changed in the last few months. I reupholsted the door trims with orange tartan. sorry for the phone camera pics

Hopefully have these beauties running when I get the linkages sorted.

Nice pressie came for me while at work

haha thanks mate. I think we still have Wurth calenders from back in 2004 haha. Cant imagine the place without them

Thanks for the link Pete. Alot of good stuff there Ill see if I can get away with a simple setup first, if that fails than ill probably get the Lp1000 top setup.

Well I have mock fitted the webers on the manifold and spend the whole arvo with the old man sorting out different throttle linkage setups. Decided to go with a Volvo 240 throttle linkage. Its a round unit which the throttle cable attaches to and it has its own return spring built in. Its a neat little setup that will sit between the two webers. Pics to come when I have the adjustable rod from the volvo part to the webers sorted

well the webers are on and running. They still need tuning with a synchrometer though. Did the best we could without one. Seem to run fairly well, but it does need a better tune, hopefully this coming week. They sound great though Don't pay attention to where the fuel lines go at the moment. They are only taking that route temporarily. Will be cleaning up the engine bay from all the 30+ years of added on dodgy wiring.

Very cool, plenty of room in there for a proper air filter setup.

Yea Pete I was looking at a nice ITP air filter setup but the trumpets on cylinder 1 and 4 sit a bit close to the headlight and the strut tower, so instead I decided on some Pipercross socks. The socks make the induction noise very very nice, and addictive.
    Here is a few pics
