Ah fellas if you have an aftermarket stereo it can ground the k wire or may have 12v which can even zap your laptop!!!!! Original Stereo and all is good

Manaz,

if your interested, wanna go halves? or the more the merrier.... I dont think this is locked to use on one car only.

vagproducts websites lists them at USD70.. so were looking about AUD110

Doesn't sound like a bad idea (especially since I ran the tank dry a few weeks ago thinking I had a few litres left - SWMBO wasn't amused!) - how soon were you looking to order?

Manaz and I are looking to go halves in one, any other sydney siders want to join us... we are looking at about USD53-63 delivered, depending if we go for V2.2 or v2.5

Don't expect the distance to empty to be the most accurate thing in the world. It's pretty good but as always take it with a grain of salt. It can vary quite a bit sometimes depending on your driving. :driver:

I have an aftermarket stereo (using iso converter), but when I had this problem, I checked the K-line and it had no wire on the other side. Voltage was fine according to the recommendations made in response to my post. I even tried plugging the factory stereo back in. No dice.

I think it may be that the cheap ebay cable I have doesn't work.

Agreed! It would be nice to have for ****s & giggles but I wouldn't take it as accurate either. Basically when the light comes on, I know I have about 40-45km left without pushing it.... (ran out once, thinking I can get to the servo in the morning on the way to work... doh :duh: won't make that mistake again)

I now have DTE on my Bora Instrument cluster!!! Also enabled the Needles and Display lighting option, now its super cool driving through tunnels or in low lit days, where I previously had to switch the parkers on to light up the dash.

Heres how I did it:

Step 1. Buy the VAG-Tacho cable
Step 2. wait for delivery
Step 3. Download the software
Step 4. Plug into OBD port
Step 5. Follow basic instructions (Big shoutout to JMAC for help)
Step 6. oh wait, its all done... woo hoo!!!

Damn easy. I'll bring it along to one of the Nats GTG if anybody else wants it done (where it can be done).
