Throttle Body not responding to Basic Settings
Hi guys, recently just took my gf's golf into a vw specialist around our area (south east melbourne) to get the water pump and timing belt package done. And the specialist has told me that the car would not idle and that throttle body is not responding to basic settings, thus needing another unit. I told him to see if there were 2nd hand TB's around available. He called me back soon after and said that He somehow got the car idling and running by replacing the air mass sensor. So I went to go pick it up and he has advised me its ok to drive untill they come back from xmas holidays in which the TB needs to be replaced.
When I used the search function to check out throttle body issues, a few threads have come up suggesting that owners should have a go at getting the TB cleaned first, but the specialist has advised to me this would be useless.
Im at a loss as to what I should do from here as the circumstance has made me skeptical about the mechanic. I have only bought the car 2 weeks ago with RWC, and have not had issues with idle or response of throttle even untill dropping it off at the specialist. But now the car has come out with me paying an additional $423 for the Air sensor unit alone and flat spot in the throttle.
I'd appreciate any pointers in what actions I should take next or what I should look into
Thanks guys
