    Eibach Pro Kit for GTI

    Hey all,
Does anyone know the exact product number of the Pro Kit springs for a 2003GTI's? Reason I'm asking is because I'm going to buy some from the US of A and I was wondering if there were any differences between our aus delivered cars and their US model?
These are the ones I'm looking at:

You should be able to get it from Eibach.com - just select 2003, VW, 1.8T - same car in US as here as far as springs go

Yeah the only reason I ask is because I went on eibach.de and searched for euro/asian applications and it specifies:
    8561.140 suits 1.8, 2.0, 1.9 SDI, 1.9 TDI 66 + 81 kW manual transmission
    8564.140 suits 1.8 T, 2.3 V5 110 kW manual transmission, 1.9 TDI 66 + 81 kW automatic transmission,# 1.9 TDI 74 + 85 kW manual transmission
So I am just wondering if I should go by US specs or Euro specs...

As far as I know, in Australia, we got the euro spec models. That said, my KYB's came from the us and they were exactly the same part number for all Mk4 golf models....

    use a bit of caution.

the US market tends to go for softer stuff for their lard-arsed consumers, so their might be a different spec for USA gear.

I know for example that euro-spec MkIV R32 has a much more hard-core suspension setup than US and Australian versions

The 8561140 is also listed under the Euro/Asian application guide, but for the 1.8, not the 1.8T
The 8564140 is only listed on the the Euro/Asian applicaiton guide, not the USA one.

I'd bet you could use the 8561140 but it may go lower than the specified 30mm, due to the weight difference between the 1.8 and the 1.8T. Having said that the 8564140 may not go as low as 30mm indicated. I doubt you'd see a huge difference between the 2 part numbers.

I'd check the price at http://www.eibach.ashop.com.au, the ones you're after dont appear to be listed on the site, but it wouldnt hurt to give them a call and see what they can get them in at. Mine only cost me $320 delivered and arrived in 2 days!!! John has been very helpful with information as well and will be able to tell you what the differences are between the 2 springs.

Got a quote from eibach aus. $600+ GST +Postage so about $700. I've asked for the product number so I'm just waiting for them to get back to me. Will also be getting Bilstein B8 shocks and Neuspeed 28mm rear sway bar too. Will let you's know how it goes.

how important is it to get new shocks if you're getting new springs?
and if you're getting what seems to be the typical 30mm lowering, does the front sway bar need to be replaced? (gti)

As far as I know the front swaybar needs to be replaced for anything that lowers your car over 40mm. As for replacing the shocks with springs; you don't have to, however I think with stiffer springs this would upset the balance of the car unless you got stiffer shocks. I remember when the rear shocks blew in my VR6 (ie underdamped) and it felt like driving around on pogo sticks for rear suspension...

Other more knowelgeable people maybe able to shed some light on this, perhaps someone else has done springs with oem shocks?
