Golf MK4 2.0L Sport Rear view mirror

    Hi All,

My 5 year old thought the rear view mirror was ok to hang off, and now the whole thing came off! How do I fix this and how much money is involved ? Do I need a new windscreen?

    Pictures here.

Some of the black stuff (is this film? or metal) came off with the whole mirror. I was thinking to super glue it lol but better check here first.

    Thanks,
    K.

superglue wont work if you want it to last and any other adhesives or glues require a long time to dry and a rear view mirror is very awkward to hold in position till glue sets..If you get a good quality contact adhesive that will work best..

something similar to this will work well...
otherwise its a new windscreen so i would be trying this ...make sure you clean both surfaces and scuff them so the glue bonds to the surface..

    Hi,
I normally go to a Windscreen company, like O'Briens, Nova, Instant Windscreens or Protector, they have the correct glue and charge around the $20.00 mark.
To do it yourself is going to cost you close to that amount and more then likely not be successful.
    Cheers

It's a manual. And I used permatex rear view mirror adhesive from mitre 10 and it's still holding after 6 days.... Touchwood

Sorry guys but you almost made me fall off my chair with laughter when I read about worrying about the windscreen.

Good to see common sense prevailed and you did the $5 fix.

    Cheers
