What is the unused harness on my intercooler?

I'm attempting to clean out my intercooler (much bigger job than i imagined, and am running out of light!), and found this unused wiring harness.

what is this?

i googled the part number http://www.google.com.au/#hl=en&sour...9c7f60791cb2a7
turns out its the boost sensor, which of course only the american cars ecu's read the boost.
funny how it's still fitted to the car?

btw, i was following this tute: http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3269395
and NO oil came out of the intercooler. what a waste of time!!!
the carby cleaner did drip out a little dirty but that's it...
