Car Bras on MK4s (what needs to be kept open/visible)
Hi guys, doing some serious highway kms at the moment, and found someone selling a car bra second hand, so thought why not.
This might also be helpful to people doing custom grills/bumpers
just wondering, what do u need to have clear on the front of the car? (mainly MK4s)
headlights obviously, centre grill around the VW badge because of the air intake in the top gap. lower centre grill. but what about the 2 smaller lower grills? i have driving lights in mine but couldnt care if they were covered. i remember reading something on the forums about one side needing to be kept clear, but cant find it.

on the turbo's (gti's) the SMIC is on the left (looking at the front of the car) so that would need to be kept open, if you had a turbo ofcourse, however, with some CAI systems, the ram pipe, or the filter unit is down behind the right hand grill, but if you have neither of these, i cant see why either of them would need to be kept open...

I think there's a temperature sensor down in the lower grill too (one side or the other)...
Nothing to see here...

Passenger side opening has little cut-outs in it so the horn isn't muffled, maybe this needs to be open??....

turns out the car bra has thin mesh for the bottom 3 cut outs and the top centre one. Anyone else had one? wondering about it rubbing on the paint, black is a shocking colour for marks like that as it is..

I got one recently and so far have just fitted the bonnet section. It collects a lot of dust underneath very quickly, no definite evidence of paint scratching but I think you need to remove and wash frequently.
Mine's a VW one from ECS tuning and I've found the main bra doesn't have enough adjustability to fit properly so I'm modifying it before fitting.
