Wow, I picked up a fault code to do with this last week when I got my cable. Didn't know what it was on about till I got in the car on a 37 degree day and recirc wouldn't work...
Urotuning seemed to be a winner but come checkout time, there's no country options aside from the USA and Canada.

I emailed them and asked if they ship to Australia - Justin replied and said it will be $110USD including shipping. Email them with your address and they will send you a paypal invoice! Wonder if I should email him and ask how much for a group buy? If there are already 4 of us who need this part it might be cheaper to combine the shipping? Would you guys be keen? I've emailed and asked for a price for 4 anyway just in case theres interest, so I'll let you all know...anyone else who is interested let me know.

Anyone know what size torx screwdriver you need to get the glovebox off? I want to get one out of the stores at work so I can have a look and make sure it is that motor playing up...apparenty there are 3 of them for the A/C in total?

we're all in different states, so I'll see what he comes back with and then work out how much it will cost for me to post it, provided theres enough interest from everyone else!

Interesting. I think mine's broken too as it doesn't close and air blows out constantly. No doubt they'd be a pain in the arse to change though

    Here's the instructions:

Air flow flap motor -V71-, removing and installing

    Removing
    - Remove glove box.
    - With screwdriver, carefully unclip air flow flap rod from lever.
    - Disconnect electrical connector.
    - Remove screw.
The flap motor is connects to the evaporator housing portion of the heating and A/C unit. To prevent damage:
    - Lower flap motor and at the same time pull off fresh air/recirculating air flap shaft.

So it would 'seem' that it's not that hard...however looking at posts from vortex it took 1 guy 7 hours!!! Another guy said it took a while and was a lot of fiddling around

Let me know if you want the part as I'm looking into a group buy

I think this might be the kind of annoying to get part that might be worth putting on your shelf even if you don't need it right away. It does seem to be a common fault on our cars as they get a bit older. Especially at the possible group buy price reduction...It sounds like it might be $200 less than the dealers as it is....

I have all aircon bits off my A3 that are likely to fit the Bora. I have torx bits too and VAG-COM. VAG-TACHO lead here.

    Call me later.

I'll probably look at this again after xmas as I go on holiday as of tomorrow. I'll let people know if I'm doing a group buy and start a new thread when I have prices, etc sorted.

Call you after xmas Gav about all the other stuff we need to look at, have a good one!
