Thats 100000 miles. have a look on www.autotrader.co.uk and see how many there are.

In the UK now one would worry about that, they are a pretty unstressed motor really. A good history and you should be laughing.

Clutches are solid. Obviously town driving on a manual affects the length of time it'll last.

My A3 has a similar setup to a V5, it has 110KW and 120000Ks on it. I am about to big turbo it and will be leaving the clutch until it gives up.

Services every 10000. If the book is missing you can call the dealers with the chassis or reg number and if it has been looked at by VW they'll be able to tell you.

They call it Dialog in the UK, could be the same here.

Look at www.mobile.de or www.autoscout24.de. 160,000km is regarded as low km in europe. As others have said, check for regular maintenance. Father in law has a bora, has had no problems with it at all.

My Bora V6 has 306,000km on it. I have done the clutch and flywheel, but other than that everything else is original. As others have said, service history is key. They're great cars.

Geez Steve, reviving an old thread here mate.

My V5 had 268,000kms before the head gasket developed a slow leak, other then that a few door lock mechanisms it was solid.
