    Beetle 2.0 ltr engine remap

    Hi folks.

Just been poking around on the net and was wondering if anyone new anything about a remap for the 2.0ltr engine in the beetle?

Found one on Custom Code's Uk site but was wondering if anyone had any local experience.

The engine is the 8v and is not too bad, but could do with a little pick me up (couldn't every engine?)

    Cheers folks!

last time i looked around for this on the new beetle (few years now) the APR website had an engine remap... but coz its not the turbo you only gained about 8kW. i couldn't justify the $2000 at the time for a measly 8kW.
have not looked since then so dont know what they offer.
i hunted in the US for a supercharger to suit the 2.0L engine, found one by neuspeed but it only fits in the US spec beetle (LH drive).
long time ago now but for about $5000 (landed and fitted) it would've boosted power to 150kW.

Pretty sure we can do something for your Beetle, as pointed out though the gains are not huge.

I'd need your ECU part number for a start.

PM me if you want further info.

    Cheers

If you still want to keep the beetle shape and go fast, just get a beetle turbo which is basically the same motor as in the golf and has a great deal of tuning potential...

well the fact of the matter is it is my girlfriends car and she is not really open to huge modifications, but when i told her what an ECU reflash can do she was interested.

Looked on the UK custom code site and they had a tune for the AJZ engine for 250 pounds which gained about 15 bhp which didn't seem to be a bad go.

i figure with that, a nice exhaust, some new rims and a set of coilovers to drop it, it will be a pretty sweet ride.

i mean its a new beetle cabrio so there is only so much you can do, but hey, its a really nice car and could do with just a few tweaks to make it a bit more fun.

APR doesn't even list the 2.0L engine on the website anymore... maybe not enough interest to offer it, considering the price to reflash.

nbc's can look good when done up a little, tho there is not much that can be done on them.
all we did with ours was - taillights, lowered, 18" wheels and dual exhaust system.

yeah that list of mods is where i want her to go with it. she's not terribly keen on the lowering - but persistence.

at the water cooled dinner on friday i'll have to get a few people working on her and slowly we will wear her down lol

GIAC do some new beetle upgrades still. I dont think these are flash loader compatible though? Might actually require a physical chip to be installed.

We only released software for the 1.8T variant.

We found that even the US software (which could give you 5 - 7hp) on a US model didn't work on a Euro car (because ours were already tuned more than the US cars).

If you purchase software for this model, my only advise would be do a before & after dyno to make sure you gain those 7hp!
