Waiting for me at work today!

Its nice to have some different work to do at work sometimes. I had to fit a sumpguard and gearbox mount to this R32 this morning to get it ready for Targa 09 and preceeding competition work.
Its being run by a local businessman, Dave, in the showroom class. Very tidy Golf and its first run will be at the Domain Hillclimb in Hobart on the last weekend of this month.

Nice looking sump guard! The side-profile looks like it has a BA bonnet bulge hehe..

Showroom class means you can do the suspension and improve the brakes.
not sure what other mods are possible but it is the way of the future in road events such as Targa ect. to prevent all the highly modified sports sedans competing. Gives more people the chance to compete on an even chance.
Targa northern Tas this year had a good showing in this class with Bates and Evans in Aurions and even ex WRC driver Alistair Mcrae in a Mazda MPS.
I mean, who needs a lightweight highly modded new Porsche or whatever in events like these? I remember Jim Richards and Peter Fitzgerald saying on the news how they were running at 290 km/h in places. Most we ever got out of Gunter on stages was around 190 km/h and that was over blind crests listening to the co/driver.
The sump \guard was from www.deiselgeek.com Was very well made and fitted very well. They make lots of bits for VWs and the price was very cheap.

very nice. Where is this car from? Those grilles on the side in the front bumper, they are both closed. On my car the left one has holes in it and a small radiator behind it

You are very observant mate. I noticed it a while ago. The cooler is on the RHS of this car and during some repairs someone has put the wrong panel in the bumper.
