    Induction oppinions

hay guys tryed to find realated threads but came up with nothin as you probaly already know i drive a mk 4 golf and i just wanted to find out with reguards to induction do people swing towards pannel filter or pod filter. If you go pod i know you need the adapter and if so has anyone had any problems with pod filters

    Depends what you want.
If you want to go a pod then the general consensus I believe is you definitely want to go a CAI setup then. Warm air pod intakes are pretty pointless as far as I'm concerned.
If you go the panel filter option then pretty much adding some CAI or bigger intake is a good option (such as going from the stock R32 intake to the DSG R32 intake).
Finally what seems to be the best option is the BMC CDA CAI setup (see my thread if you want some photos). Big dollars for one of these brand new but supposedly the best option.
The other thing which there is some debate about is if you have oiled filters and you over oil the filters you can kill the MAF sensor as oil gets on it and basically buggers it. Some have said this is bollocks, others have said that it's happened to them. But if you only lightly oil it you will never find out and that's got to be a good thing.

Is yours a forced induction engine or naturally aspirated? I ask because for the $ to performance ratio, naturally aspirated engines won't reap as big a reward as a forced induction engine

I had a HKS POD on my car and the MAF lasted 3 months i think. I had the same problem on a Liberty B4 with the same POD. See photo:

Now i have Neuspeed CAI which is very good. I love it, but the air filter is low in the bumper so im always cautious when its wet. Here's the link:

I'll keep pointing at my thread here whenever this question pops up:
    http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/newf...ad.php?t=11822

    While I'm in a Mk3 it's a generic part so it's all good.

Consider this the cheap knock off of the BMC CDA kit. While it's much easier to justify the price of a BMC unit in a $30k R32, it's less so in a Mk3 (or a cheaper car).

The question of if it works as well as a BMC?? At a guess, probably, although I have seen nothing either way to confirm or deny that.

Oh, while you mention it, my intake is *very* close to the ground and I'm yet to have any issues with pouring rain although being so close to the ground I am aware and try not to drive through rivers

I couldn't justify the price of BMC. Its an intake, a pipe with a filter at one end. I really dont see why would i spend $600 for it? Mine was $300 at my door. And i love it because it looks like it belongs on the car. Its not shiny, no stickers etc
